Jane Strong
Jane Strong is an Advanced Care Practitioner. QN.MSC.ANP Jane has worked at Seaside Medical Centre since 2016. Jane has a background that is wide and varied, having experience in Stroke, A&E, General Medicine, Intermediate Care, District Integrative Care Service, OOH, Service Redesign and Commissioning, Trauma and Ambulatory Care. Jane has a special interest in service redesign, minor injury, men's health and COPD. Jane was awarded the Queens Nurse Title in 2016 and was a Burdett Trust finalist in 2018. An Advanced Care Practitioner is qualified to treat medical conditions without the direct supervision of a doctor. Advanced Care Practitioners are able to prescribe as well as manage patient treatments, request tests and investigations. Jane's role is to see 'new' illnesses. This includes, tonsillitis, earache, tummy pain, urine infections, chest infections, insect bites and skin issues. The role of the Advanced Care Practitioner has been in existence for some years now and is a response to the National GP shortage; its was devised to allow the GP's time to deal with complex healthcare needs whilst not compromising patient care. This role is not to replace that of a GP only to enhance it. |
Shirley Colvin
Shirley Colvin is an Advanced Care Practitioner. The majority of Shirley's nursing career has ben Primary care based. Shirley was a District Nurse for many years and then moved to Practice Nursing, specialising in contraception and associated sexual health, which now includes fitting and removal of IUD/IUS and nexplanon subdermal implants. Shirley also has an interest in Diabetes after doing a Masters module in 2015. This is an area of medicine that Shirley is embracing again with vigour within General Practice at Seaside Medical Centre. Shirley has worked for five years at the Walk-in Centre and two years with the OOH team working as an Advanced Level Autonomous Practitioner, using skills ranging from minor injury-stitching, gluing, to the diagnosis and treating of various acute and chronic conditions. Last year Shirley credentialed with the RCN as an ANLP and continues to progress and learn things daily. |
